Anne Mary Schaefer wrote, “I’ve been trying to stop by there for some time, and on Saturday afternoon the parking lot was packed! But watching the clouds streaming by throughout the afternoon into early evening, I thought it might be a lovely night for me and the kids to explore some of the trails. And I was right! The light was golden and luscious, and with not a car in the lot, we had the entire place to ourselves.”

Pelican Bluffs Preserve and Coastal Trail is a jewel. It's our newest open space acquisition overseen by the Mendocino Land Trust. To learn more about it, here's the link: https://www.mendocinolandtrust.org/trails/southern-coastal-trails/pelican-bluffs-trail/

It's cloudy and cool here today, and tomorrow we might get some nice rain. After that, it will be sunny and warmer. Memorial Day weekend is almost here, and the Mendonoma coast beckons!

I had heard there was a seasonal waterfall at our new public access spot, Pelican Bluffs. Steve Coffey-Smith photographed it several weeks ago.

I know, it's not the most dramatic waterfall, but still it's nice to know one is there. Wildflowers are abundant at Pelican Bluff and this is a great time to explore this beautiful place.

Thanks to Steve for allowing me to share his photo with you here. To learn more about Pelican Bluffs, here's the website for the Mendocino Land Trust, the wonderful people who made this acquisition happen: https://www.mendocinolandtrust.org/trails/southern-coastal-trails/pelican-bluffs-trail/

You can download a map from their website. And here it is for you to see:

A beautiful addition to the Mendocino coast is brought to us by the Mendocino Land Trust. It's called Pelican Bluffs Preserve and Coastal Trail, and is found south of Point Arena. Allen Vinson recently walked the 2+ miles of trails and took these photos.
