In our last series of rainstorms, John Batchelder photographed a very bedraggled, soaked Red-shouldered Hawk.

The hawk doesn't look too happy, does he? Hope he dried out over the past several days of sun.  Here's a photo John took of one of these hawks on a dry day.

Another series of storms is predicted to bring lots of rain to the Mendonoma Coast starting late tomorrow. Here we go again!

Thanks to John for allowing me to share his photo with you here.

Peter Cracknell spotted this Coyote at the Point Arena-Stornetta Lands. We don't see many Coyotes on the coast.

One of my favorite photos of a Coyote was taken some years ago by Pepe Alvarez.

Thanks to Peter and Pepe for allowing me to share their photos with you here.

Steve Coffee-Smith sent in a photo of an unusual fish. Steve wrote, “Our group of family and friends went to Bowling Ball Beach. We found this fish, maybe three inches long, on the newly exposed rocks in the lowering tide. We tried to scoop him up in order to return him to deeper water, but he was stuck to the rock.”

Carol Preston of NOAA knew the ID of the fish. Carol wrote, “It is a Clingfish, Gobiesox maeandricus. They use their ‘suction cup,’ which is their pelvic fins fused together, to cling to the undersides of rocks in the tidepools. They mainly eat small crustaceans and molluscs.”

Thanks to Carol for the ID, and thanks to Steve for allowing me to share his photo with you here.

Rainbow days are one of the privileges of being on the Mendonoma coast. Lucienne Allen caught this vibrant rainbow arching over her arbor.

It feels like good luck when you see a rainbow like this one.

Thanks to Lucienne for allowing me to share her photo with you here. We have sun today after all the rains. And the holiday weekend looks to be dry too.

Jon Loveless spotted this handsome Buck resting in the sun after a rainstorm.

The big Buck looks pretty contented, doesn't he? In the west, only the prongs of one antler are counted. He will be shedding this big rack soon, and someone might be lucky and find it.

Thanks to Jon for allowing me to share his photo with you here.
