Bill Brown was at Cooks Beach early one morning during a low tide.  How beautiful to see the offshore rocks reflected in the ocean.

Bill also saw many healthy Sea Stars, Ochre Stars, at Cooks Beach.

Cooks Beach is a lovely pocket beach, perfect for forgetting about a certain virus, or anything else that might be bothering you!

RCLC is our local land conservancy. Along with Cooks Beach, they have brought us the Gualala Bluff Trail and Hearn Gulch. To great excitement, they are also bringing us Mill Bend, which includes the mouth and part of the stem of the Gualala River. RCLC continues to fund raise for this once-in-a lifetime acquisition. You can find out much more at this link: https://www.rclc.org/

Thanks to Bill for allowing me to share his photos with you here.

We had a very foggy morning, and it continues to be socked in right along the coastline. The sun is shining a little away from the bluffs, however. It's a mild summer day.

Dragonflies and Damselflies grace us with their incredible beauty. Ron Bolander was at a friend's lily pond where he found this gorgeous Blue-eyed Darner Dragonfly.

Thanks to Ron for allowing me to share his photo with you here.

It's foggy along the coast but sunny when you head inland. That makes for a mild day today!

Great Egrets are year-round residents of the Mendonoma Coast. They can often be found near a river. Craig Tooley photographed one resting on a coastal bluff.

In breeding plumage, a patch of feathers on their face near their eyes turns green. We have a smaller egret here, a Snowy Egret. Eric Zetterholm's photo shows the larger Great Egret on the left and the smaller Snowy Egret on the right.

Great Egrets are the symbol of the National Audubon Society. These birds were killed for their feathers, which were used to decorate women's hats. Audubon was founded to stop this practice, thus saving these elegant birds from extinction.

Drippy fog early this morning has completely disappeared. It's a lovely summer day on the Mendonoma Coast.

There are some sunsets that you just shake your head, as you are having a hard time believing what you are seeing. Tricia Schuster photographed such a sunset last Thursday.

Sunset are a specialty of the Mendonoma Coast!

Thanks to Tricia for allowing me to share her photos with you here.

Foggy right at the coastline, sunny and mild at our place in Anchor Bay.

A few weeks ago there was a nice minus-tide in the early morning hours. Bill and his wife, Lonna, headed for Black Point Beach, a spectacular beach at The Sea Ranch. They found the usually inaccessible north end accessible for a short while. What they found were Sea Stars, hundreds and hundreds of healthy Stars.

And look at all those mussels!

Thanks to Bill for allowing me to share his photo with you here.

There is fog over the ocean again today looking like whipped cream, but we are above the fog line at our place in Anchor Bay. It's cooler today, which I'll take any day over the inland heat!
