A Gray Fox mother decided one of the active barns at the B Bryan Preserve in Point Arena was an ideal spot for her new family. Judy Mello wrote, “We have a ‘herd’ of Fox kits. Mom decided that a safe place to den was in our Sable Antelope barn. I think there are five kits that I hope will make this their forever home to eat the Gophers!” When I questioned Judy about the Sable Antelope being in the barn at the same time with the Gray Fox family, she wrote, “Yep!  They share the barn and each pretty much ignores each other.” That’s truly amazing. Cassidy Spooner, one of the animal care specialists at the Preserve, got a very cute photo of one of the kits.

Judy took several photos and shared them with me.

Pretty darn cute, don't you think?!

Thanks to Cassidy and Judy for allowing me to share their photos with you here. To learn more about the fabulous B Bryan Preserve in Point Arena, here is their website: https://www.bbryanpreserve.com/

It's sunny and mild with strong winds! Don't bother styling your hair if you are on the coast today.

Tom Reindenbach found this mother Gray Fox and one kit in his garden in Irish Beach.

Here is a short video of the two. The little kit just wants to play!

I think Gray Fox kits are among the cutest critters here on the Mendonoma Coast! Thanks to Tom for allowing me to share his photo and video with you here, and thanks to Carol Hofer for sending them along.

oh my goodness, someone left the heat on today. It peaked at 95 degrees. 95??? That's way too hot. Tomorrow is supposed to be quite a bit cooler. I sure hope so!

Bill Retzer may have seen the first Gray Fox kit of Spring several weeks ago.

Bill wrote, "It was a little after nine and, because of occasional visiting Raccoons, I’ve a habit of taking the hummingbird feeder in for the evening. I stepped out on the deck and this little guy was swinging the feeder back and forth and then licking off the sugar water that slopped out. The kit seemed quite content.”

I received another sighting of Gray Fox kits, a family of five little ones. I'll share the photo soon.

Clouds, fog, much cooler temperatures, and some rain on the way!

Spring doesn't know...

Brenna Dix spotted this sweet Gray Fox in a blackberry bush. It looks like he or she is enjoying the sun too.

Gray Foxes eat a varied diet, including small mammals and berries. Here's a video Brenna took of the kit enjoying a nice meal.

Thanks to Brenna for allowing me to share her photo and video with you here.

Lots of lovely clouds making for an interesting sky today.

Michael Beattie photographed one of three Gray Fox kits under the deck of the Pacific Community Charter School in Point Arena.

The kits love to play and wrestle with each other. Having a family under a deck or woodshed is guaranteed to give  you many hours of fun watching their antics.

Thanks to  Michael for allowing me to share his photo with you here.

Sunny and breezy seems to be the name of the weather game these days. The sunrise this morning was spectacular but very fleeting. If someone got a photo of it, I hope to share it here.
