Endlessly fascinating, Bobcats are seen hunting rodents in grassy meadows. It is wonderful that a wild creature such as a Bobcat is free to coexist with us. Rick Wilson photographed one on The Sea Ranch.

Thanks to Rick for sharing his photo with us. To see another great Bobcat photo, this one by Drew Fagan, here's the link: http://www.mendonomasightings.com/2011/06/09/bobcat-caught-in-mid-air-by-drew-fagan-in-gualala/ He photographed the Bobcat leaping in mid-air.

Bucks with their antlers covered in soft velvet have been seen recently. Drew Fagan photographed two of them north of Gualala. He entitled his photo, "Two gentlemen in velvet lunching outside my studio."

Nice view Drew has from his art studio!

Big Bucks are still being seen as the rut is winding down. The big boys move onto the coast in October looking for the most comely Doe. Drew Fagan recently photographed this five-point Black-tailed Deer. Isn't he magnificent?!

Drew Fagan has an art studio at his place in Gualala. It affords him some might fine wildlife viewing. Recently he watched an encounter between a Bobcat and a Gray Fox. The Bobcat apparently got too close to the Fox's kits. The Fox chased the Bobcat off but before that happened, Drew caught the beautiful Bobcat hunting something in the grass - possibly a small rodent - and snapped this photo. A big thank you to Drew for allowing me to share it here.
