Jennifer Massey has a pair of these beautiful hawks coming to a tree on Sea Ranch. She recently photographed one of them in the tree.

Craig Tooley also photographed a Red-shouldered Hawk, either exercising its wings or preparing for flight.

It's storming on the Mendonoma coast this afternoon!

With a big storm coming in for the first day of February, the last day of January cried out for a walk on the bluffs. That's exactly what Rick and I did, along with our golden retriever, Duffy. Watching from the bluffs, the waves crashing on the beach at Gualala Point Regional Park were amazing to behold.

The ocean will give you clues a storm is on the way. Here is a video of today's action.

Gualala Point Regional Park is a coastal treasure. Residents and visitors alike enjoy exploring all it has to offer. To learn more, here is a link to the park: http://parks.sonomacounty.ca.gov/Visit/Gualala-Point-Regional-Park/

Eric Zetterholm photographed the Bald Eagles recently. He found them "checking out" this tall, old-growth Redwood Tree east of Gualala Point Regional Park Campground.

There looks to be a nice flat area on the left for a nest...hint, hint! Eric says he will be watching in the days to come.

Eric also got this magnificent photo of the two, forming a heart. The larger female is on the right.

Shari GoForth-Eby photographed one of the Bald Eagles flying by so we can see the white tail feathers.

You can also see the bones of the eagle's legs. Nice!

Thanks to Eric and Shari for allowing me to share their photos with you here.

It has clouded up this afternoon and we are expecting the first of several storms tonight.

Jim Corbett photographed the sun-loving California Sea Lion. The Sea Lion looks pretty happy there on the breakwater.

Rebecca Stanley found a Sea Lion pup in distress. He was huddled up against a driftwood structure on the beach at Irish Beach. Poor little fellow.

Rebecca did the correct thing - she called the Marine Mammal Center (415)289-7325). They sent a trained local to assess the situation. The decision was to take the sick pup to the Marine Mammal Center. He has been named Qi. He was separated from his mother and very malnourished. He will likely be at the Center for several months and then hopefully released back to sea. You can check on Qi at: http://www.marinemammalcenter.org/

Thanks to Jim and Rebecca for allowing me to share their photos with you here.

Another beautiful sunny day here, but that is about to change as a series of storms is headed our way!

Anne Mary Schaefer is a talented photographer. She recently captured a scene of great beauty at Cooks Beach with the vibrant colors of the sunset reflected in the Pacific Ocean, the creek and the sand.

Just lovely! This moment brought to you by the Mendonoma Coast. And, of course, Anne Mary. I thank her for allowing me to share her photo with you here. She is a talented pet photographer. Visit her website to learn more about her at this link: https://www.pawpawrazzipetphotography.com/about-me
