Meet Cookie, the Cooks Beach sea monster. Michael Combs recently photographed it.

Cookie looks friendly with that smile, though perhaps a little wooden.

Cooks Beach is a lovely pocket beach at the north end of Gualala, Why wouldn't a sea monster want to hang out there?

Thanks to Michael for allowing me to share his photo with you here.

Windy again today with clear skies.

Acorn Woodpeckers are striking birds, with their colorful faces. Ron Bolander recently photographed a female.

The female has black feathers between the white and red feathers on her head. The male doesn't have the black band of feathers on his head. They have a unique call which you can hear at this link to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology: https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Acorn_Woodpecker/sounds

Thanks to Ron for allowing me to share his photo with you here.

oh my, it's WINDY today! There have been power outages because of the wind. And there isn't a cloud to be seen as I type this...just a cold wind!

Monica Martinez found one of the cutest animals on the Mendonoma Coast, a newborn Lamb. Just look at this cute smile! You can even see the umbilical cord still hanging from the little charmer.

Monica also photographed this Lamb with its mother.

New life is appearing on the coast, including TSR flock!

Thanks to Monica for allowing me to share her photos with you here.

It's sunny, cool and quite breezy today. We had some surprise rain last night, not much - just 0.05 inch. 62.90 inches season to date at our place in Anchor Bay. 50 inches is a "normal" rain year.

There are two rabbits seen on the Mendonoma Coast - the Black-tailed Jackrabbit and the much smaller Brush Rabbit. Jon Loveless recently photographed this Brush Rabbit near his home on The Sea Ranch.

With all the Easter egg hunts going on today, it seemed appropriate to share a rabbit photo!

Thanks to Jon for allowing me to share his photo with you here.

Oh my, it's a lovely day here. No wind, blue skies with clouds passing by, and warmer temps. sigh.

It's always a happy occasion to see the first Harbor Seal pup of the year. He/she was born last Sunday at the Tidepool Rookery off The Sea Ranch. Karen Wilkinson was there with her camera. The mother and pup soon entered the ocean.

Here the pup catches a ride on the back of his/her mom.

There is a very sweet photo on page one of the Independent Coast Observer from this series by Karen. Hope you subscribe!

Thanks to Karen for allowing me to share her photos with you here.

There was 1.30 inches in our gauge from the storm that came through Thursday night/Friday morning. But today is dry and mild, with many clouds passing by. Gray Whales have been seen today, heading north. We'll be looking for the first mother/calf pair soon - another heartwarming sighting.
