Nancy Trissel wrote on May 13th, “Last night we spotted a Mountain Lion out of our living room window! It was 7:24 pm and the photos were taken through a double-paned window. She looks to be female. This encounter is exactly what I asked for years ago – to see a grown cat up close but from the safety of my home, like the bear I saw. After she left, we went to her spot and found she could not see into the house at all. She was there for several minutes. We were beyond words.”

I sent Nancy’s photos to Quinton Martin, the director of Living with Lions. I could see this cougar wasn’t Paul, the collared cat. He wrote, “Fantastic! Thanks for sharing these cool photos. Paul has been around in the area, but that is certainly another cat. Excellent!”

This Mountain Lion was seen off Fish Rock Road, which is a little north of Anchor Bay.

Nancy mentioned she got to see a Black Bear. Here's her photo from some years ago of a cinnamon-colored Black Bear.

John Batchelder saw a pod of between eight and ten Humpback Whales yesterday from his home on The Sea Ranch. He photographed this adult Humpback breaching.

We think it's a female because right behind her was this calf, also breaching.

Roswitha and Joel Crockett have the privilege of watching a pair of Fawn twins in their meadow. What a great way to start the day!

Where the grass is taller, Roswitha says the only way they can see the Fawns is when they jump.

We had another 1.75 inches of rain overnight...just amazing for this time of year.

Ruth Alexander recently photographed several lounging Harbor Seals.

Even though they are sleeping on rocks, they sure do look comfortable. A nice layer of blubber must make those rocks feel like a comfy bed. A couple of fun photos for you today to hopefully make you smile.

We are having a total washout today - rain, rain and more rain. It should be over by next week. Then the waterfalls will be rejuvenated and the wildflowers freshened. Memorial Day weekend could be perfect on the Mendonoma coast.

In this photo Shirley photographed some pink Butter 'n' Eggs, aka Johnny Tuck, with the GoldfieldsWe had a nice rain event yesterday, Thursday, and we have another predicted for Saturday. The late rains are sure to replenish the wildflowers, allowing them to bloom longer.
