We had a nice rain event yesterday, Thursday, and we have another predicted for Saturday. The late rains are sure to replenish the wildflowers, allowing them to bloom longer.

A young, male Mountain Lion with a tracking collar was caught on camera walking along a path on The Sea Ranch on March 7th. Bob Van Syoc wrote, “I saw this young lion strolling by our garage. It was very relaxed with some sort of collar.”
This particular Mountain Lion, P14 or "Paul", was collared by Dr. Quinton Martins and the Living with Lions team in early January. Martins and his team are part of Audubon Canyon Ranch, a non-profit environmental organization. When the news of Bob’s sighting reached Dr. Martins, he rushed up the coast on Friday, as he had lost contact on Jan. 21 with P14’s tracking collar.
A cadre of coast residents helped him over the next three days finally track Paul. Dr. Martins was able to get a GPS download of this cougar’s movements, which showed he had traveled nearly 200 miles since January 7th. You can follow this story at www.egret.org.

Allen Vinson was photographing some of the sights at The Sea Ranch recently. He saw a beautiful wave with rooster tails - the top water being blown off.
The sun was just coming up behind the trees, creating beautiful sunbeams.
And Allen found one of the Mendonoma coast's many waterfall.

Waterfalls should be full for this weekend after today's rain. We received a solid inch of the wet stuff.
Christopher Arnold wrote, "I've been exploring the area for decades and can never remember anything like this. The three beauties were perched on a log over the rushing Pomo Creek in The Sea Ranch."
"I hope one of your wildlife experts can identify them. They can't possibly be what they seem."
Last December Craig Tooley found a fairy next to a tiny mushroom. It seems there ARE fairies in the forest!

We're back into more rain but you won't hear me complain. After the drought, I celebrate this nice, wet winter/early spring.
June Wilson had a Hermit Thrush visit her place at The Sea Ranch for a while. She took this photo of the songbird.
