Brown Pelicans land in the Gualala River, which is a hoot to watch. As graceful as they are in the air, they can be quite clumsy coming in for a river landing. Mike Reinhart was recently at the river when he saw this Brown Pelican taking quite a bath.

The freshwater of the river is perfect for getting each feather clean!

Today is warm and rather muggy. Some clouds poured in this morning but all that remains are wispy clouds now.

Craig's wife, Rita Peck, looked out their window and saw this little owl taking a bath in one of the water bowls they leave out for wildlife.

Craig spotted the Pygmy Owl again, this time perched on a branch and looking very clean from its bath!

Sunny and cold this morning with clouds drifting in this afternoon. We have rain forecast for tomorrow - hooray!

Karen Wilkinson noticed this Black Oystercatcher taking a vigorous bath.

It was a VERY thorough bath as you can see below.

Karen said it made her laugh to see this. It makes me smile to see her photos!

This male Western Bluebird took quite an energetic bath at the birdbath Pat and Bill Mutch put out in their garden.

Putting water out for wildlife is sure to bring you fun sightings like this.

Thanks to Bill for allowing me to share his photo with you here. I had a happy discovery this morning - a Chestnut-backed Chickadee nest in a nesting box we put up earlier this year. I will try to get some photos to share.

Yes, rain is hitting the Mendonoma Coast, filling our seasonal creeks and adding precious water to our rivers and watersheds. A Brewer's Blackbird was seen taking a bath in a rain puddle and Rob Diefenbach caught the action with his camera. It seems to me the bird is glaring at Rob - this would be a great photo for a caption. Got one?
