Rozanne Rapozo sent in this photo and asked if I could see the dog. After looking at it for a while, I did indeed see it. Can you? Now I can't un-see it.

Rozanne took this photo of a sea tunnel off The Sea Ranch.

Thanks to Rozanne for allowing me to share her fun photo with you here.

brrrr! Foggy and cold, only mid-50s this afternoon. But late this afternoon the fog has pulled back and I can actually see an ocean out there!

I will be on Peggy's Place tomorrow, Thursday April 16, from 9 to 10 taking nature sightings. The radio station, KGUA 88.3, live streams so if you are so inclined, you could listen in. Here's the link: https://www.kgua.org/  Click on "listen live" on the upper left.

As our parks and trails to beaches are closed off due to the coronavirus, I thought today I'd show you one of my favorite photos of Hearn Gulch. Paul Brewer is the talented photographer who captured magic that day.

Paul photographed the setting sun through the sea tunnel, and the blow hole in beautiful action on the right side. When this crisis is over, perhaps you will visit this special spot, brought to us by the Redwood Coast Land Conservancy. It's been raining with more to come - hooray!

Spring doesn't know...

These late season heat waves make everyone nervous as we wait for the rains to begin in. Before the last hot weather enveloped the coast, Paul Brewer was on the Jenner Grade when he saw this beautiful sight.

You can see the full moon peaking up over the ridge as fog rolls in from the ocean.

Thanks to Paul for allowing me to share his photo with you here. Would you like to see one of my favorite Paul Brewer photos? Paul caught the setting sun shining through the sea tunnel just as the blowhole went off at Hearn Gulch.

Paul sells his work at the Dolphin Gallery in Gualala and other art galleries on the coast. You can see much more of his nature photograph at this site: http://www.capturingnatureswonders.com/

Hearn Gulch is such a beautiful spot, with a sea tunnel and a blowhole. Eric Duff recently photographed the scene at sunset.

Here is a photo Eric took a while ago that shows the sea tunnel with the setting sun shining through it.

And here's a photo of mine of the blowhole in action.

You find Hearn Gulch just north of Iversen Road in Mendocino County. Parking is along Highway One at mile marker 10.0. To learn more, here is the link to the Redwood Coast Land Conservancy: http://www.rclc.org/

The beauty of Hearn Gulch is something to be savored again and again. Eric Duff visited the lovely pocket beach just before sunset, and you can see the sun shining through the sea tunnel.

There is also a blowhole on the north side, and when the ocean swells begin to build, that's the time to see if the blowhole is in action. Here's a photo I took last month.

Parking for Hearn Gulch is found at mile marker 10.0, near Iversen Road in Mendocino County. To learn more about the several treasured places the Redwood Coast Land Conservancy has brought to us, here is their website: http://www.rc-lc.org/

There is a convenient "Donate" button on their site. They are actively fundraising at this time.
