Scott Chieffo was at Manchester Beach when he got this beautiful photo. I love the reflection of the setting sun on the wet sand.

This morning's sunrise was pretty spectacular too. I photographed this through our window!

Thanks to Scott for allowing me to share his photo with you here. To see much more of Scott's photography, here is his website: https://www.schieffophotography.com/

No rain in sight. Thank goodness we received over 12 inches earlier last month!

If you are looking for a place to see coastal wildflowers, Salt Point State Park is a great choice. Karen Wilkinson was recently there and photographed this scene.

Scott Chieffo was at Salt Point some days earlier so you can see how far the wildflowers have come in a short time!

And along forest paths, Red Clintonia is nearly at full bloom. What a great time of year!

Thanks to Karen and Scott for allowing me to share their photos with you here.

Foggy on the immediate coast earlier today but it has pulled back out over the ocean this afternoon.Temps in the 60's.

Sponsored by the Cordell Bank National Marine Sanctuary, a fascinating photo exhibit opens tonight from 5 pm to 7 pm. Along with photos taken by Sanctuary photographers, local nature photographer, Scott Chieffo, will be showing his photos of our coast.

Art in the Redwoods, held the third weekend in August, is always a big event in Gualala. Rick and I have the honor - and the agony - of picking a piece of art that represents the beautiful Mendonoma Coast. This year we chose a dramatic photograph by Scott Chieffo of the arches seen just off the Point Arena-Stornetta Lands. Scott titled it, "A Seal's eye view."

Jane Reichhold wrote a haiku ceremony for the dedication of these Lands. The last haiku read:

A stroke of the pen, A curve of the coast again, Sacred Land.

Scott's photo shows us the dramatic beauty of these Lands, forever preserved.

Congratulations to Scott for winning Best Mendonoma Sighting 2014. And thanks to him for allowing me to share his photo with you here. To see more of Scott's nature photography, here is his website: http://www.schieffophotography.com/
