It was such a special sunset on Feb. 28 that I can't resist sharing more photos of it. A huge thundercloud served as the perfect foil for the sunset. Paul Kozal captured this dramatic photo. It looks like a spaceship to me.

Colleen Cross caught the reflection of the sunset on a thundercloud, and in the Pacific Ocean.

And Don Spear photographed a threatening thundercloud.

And today there is nary a cloud in the sky and the temperature is spring-like. Gray Whales have been seen, all heading north. These are the newly pregnant females, perhaps now followed by the males. This is the perfect weekend to be on the Mendonoma Coast.

Thanks to Don, Colleen, and Paul for allowing me to share their photos with you here. To see much more of Paul's nature photography, here is his website: http://www.paulkozal.com/

Iversen Cove isn't accessible to the public so it is a treat to see Paul Kozal's photos. He recently photographed this area at high tide. Iversen Cove on 1.20.15 King Tide by Paul Kozal And here it is at low tide.

Isn't this an amazing look? Many thanks to Paul for allowing me to share his photos with you. Paul's website is: http://paulkozal.com/

Paul Kozal has trained his camera on high and low tides on the Mendonoma Coast. The contrast is amazing. The top photo shows a King Tide, a very high tide at Shell Beach on The Sea Ranch.

And the bottom photo shows the exact same place at low tide. Paul also photographed Iversen Cove's high and low tide. I will share them with you here tomorrow.

The Salal Trail waterfall is very beautiful. When winter rains really get it going, it is something to behold. Paul Kozal photographed it a few weeks ago after the wonderful storms we had.

Of course Paul is a professional photographer and able to take a photo like this. I, on the other hand, am not a professional. But I did get two nice photos of the waterfall several years ago.

The Salal Trail is a public access trail that begins at Gualala Point Regional Park. After the pay station, turn into the parking area on the left and look for this trailhead sign.

It is a wonderful trail that eventually ends at a small beach.

Paul Kozal worked his magic with his camera and caught this image of a Douglas-fir tree and streaking stars.
