The big Harvest Moon was fun to see. Paul Brewer went out early in the morning to try to get a photo of it setting into the ocean. There was only one problem - a big fog bank. So Paul photographed the moon just before it disappeared into the fog. I love how the moonlight is shining on the ocean.

Last night's sunset was a beauty. Paul Brewer once again caught the magic.

Jackie Brewer noticed the it first. She and Paul were  having lunch on their deck when she saw this young hawk. Paul grabbed his camera and got this photo of the moment the bird was launching itself - a juvenile Cooper's hawk. Perhaps it has spotted something to eat, perhaps a small bird, as that eye looks very determined.

I originally had this hawk identified as a Red-shouldered hawk. Mark Moore was nice enough to contact me so I could get this ID correct. Thank you, Mark!

Paul Brewer photographed the beautiful sunset from the banks of the Gualala River. You can see the river is currently closed to the Pacific Ocean by the sandbar. Past the sandbar is the ocean.

Finding a bird’s nest is a lucky sighting. Paul Brewer wrote, “Brenda and Erik Draaijer located an Acorn woodpecker nest and were kind enough to point it out to me so I could photograph it. The baby sure is cute, and I owe this opportunity to two wonderful friends.”
