The proliferation of trail cameras gives us insight into our natural world. Carl Romick wrote, “Our trail cam picked up this photo last Thursday at 9:50 am. The path is above Galloway Creek off Schooner Gulch Road, about three quarters of a mile from the coast.”

It’s striking that this Cougar was seen mid-morning. They are supposed to be nocturnal, but we have had several recent sightings in the daylight hours.

Joni Goshorn's trail cam captured a video of a Mountain Lion near Point Arena. It's quite misty and you can see the time is 12:25 am on June 23.

Thanks to Carl and Joni for allowing me to share their photo/video with you here.

It's a foggy day here today with temps in the low 60s. It's always nice when Mother Nature helps to water our gardens with nice, moist fog!

I recently showed you a video of an adult Mountain Lion, a female, and her two offspring. Now we have a sighting of an adult male. Mike Dinning wrote, “This was Sunday morning at 1:56 am, 15 feet outside the backdoor [of my house] in Point Arena, the vicinity of Ten Mile Road and Schooner Gulch. I was surprised that the Mountain Lion stood there long enough for me to take a picture.”

I sent Mike’s photo to Mountain Lion expert Quinton Martins asking if he thought Mike’s photo showed a male.  Quinton wrote, “What a beauty!!! Yes, it looks like a  male. Stunning.”

Thanks to Mike for allowing me to share his photo with you here.

Sunny and breezy on the Mendonoma Coast today.

Michael Sugarman's trail camera picked up a visit by a healthy-looking Mountain Lion recently. Here is the video: Mountain Lion Video by Michael Sugarman

One of my favorite photos of a Mountain Lion was taken by CeCe Case. A female Mountain Lion was starring through her window in Gualala a few years back. YIKES!!

Thanks to Michael for allowing me to share his video and to Cece for allowing me to reshare her photo with you here.

It's dark and cold with occasional rain showers today!

When Jinx McCombs looked at the chip in her trail cam, she found about 100 photos of this Mountain Lion, which was seen near Point Arena.

This is the first sighting of a Cougar since last Summer, Jinx said. Seeing this big cat, also called a Puma, is a thrill.

Thanks to Jinx for allowing me to share her photos with you here.

Oh, the wind! It is extremely windy today as a front crosses over us. The house is shaking from today's wind! The wind is suppose to calm down overnight and the forecast is sunny and warmer for the days ahead.

Jinx McCombs and Paul Nordstrand have a motion detector camera at their property near Point Arena that captures some wonderful wildlife sightings. Recently they were amazed to see this photo.

The big Cougar was walking through their property in the middle of the night!

Thanks to Jinx and Paul for allowing me to share their photo with you here.

Another sparkling clear day on the Mendonoma Coast.
