Paul Anderson photographed this sight at the Point Arena Pier, a large dumping of round balls of hail, looking just like an inch or so of hail. This is nearly sea level!

A few days later, some of us were gifted with the sight of a beautiful rainbow. This one's pot of gold is resting on Fish Rocks off Anchor Bay. I took this photo.

Thanks to Paul for allowing me to share his photo with you here.

We are waiting for another big storm, another river of rain event. At least it is warmer so no snow/hail should fall. Batten down the hatches!

Karen Tucker photographed this ethereal sight - the full, or nearly full, moon shining over Fish Rocks off Anchor Bay.

A beautiful sight for you today. Fish Rocks has an active colony of male California Sea Lions. They obviously have a lot to say to each other as they can be heard barking all day long!

Thanks to Karen for allowing me to share her photo with you here.

Sunny and breezy today.

Spring doesn't know...

Mostly we see male California Sea Lions off the Mendonoma coast. Jennifer Terry recently photographed one appearing to be looking out to sea.

There is a colony of male CA Sea Lions on Fish Rocks just off of Anchor Bay. In the spring, most of them leave to mate with females to our south, returning to their rocky home when mating is over. They are able to "walk" with their flippers. Sea Lions are very intelligent, and they seem to have a lot to say, as they bark seemingly all day and night!

You can learn more about CA Sea Lions on the Marine Mammal Center's website at this link: http://www.marinemammalcenter.org/education/marine-mammal-information/pinnipeds/california-sea-lion/

Karen Tucker photographed this beautiful scene from her home overlooking Fish Rocks.

This morning, after a nice rainstorm, a few remaining storm clouds were seen. A short rainbow appeared for a few minutes. I watched it but Susan Routledge-Jackson photographed it, with Fish Rocks seemingly the rainbow's end. A lovely photo for you today.
