Every October big Bucks wander onto the Mendonoma Coast looking for Does. Sometimes Bucks will fight each other with their antlers over the females. The healthiest, strongest male prevails, thus ensuring his genes will be perpetuated. Robert Scarola watched a beautiful Buck herding his Does all day.

After tending to his harem, he was one tired Buck.

It's not often you see a Buck take a rest break right in front of you, but that's what happened to Robert.

Thanks to Robert for allowing me to share his photos with you here.

Robert and Nancy Scarola were fortunate to have several fawns born at their Sea Ranch property. Here is a recent photo of two fawns that were born earlier this year. They have lost their spots. They also seem to be posing just for Robert.

Below is a photo of these two fawns just after they were born. They love to play with each other.

Black-tailed Deer are a wonderful part of the landscape that is the Mendonoma Coast.

Rich Kuehn had the most beautiful sighting in front of his The Sea Ranch home - a storm cloud with a rainbow, a crashing wave and Black-tailed Deer on the bluff.

It's a "peace on earth, goodwill towards all" moment. Rick and I, with family and friends, including Rich Kuehn, will be celebrating Christmas today and tomorrow. So please allow me to wish you and yours Merry Christmas. And if you do not celebrate Christmas, perhaps you can simply enjoy this beautiful photo of this Coast that we love so much. Thanks to Rich for allowing me to share it with you here.

Bucks have been reappearing on the Mendonoma Coast and they have one thing on their minds. Bucks have been seen locking antlers over a particularly attractive Doe. It's the time of year to give these big Bucks a wide berth.

Recently Ben Angwin photographed a young Buck in the grasses at Gualala Point Regional Park.

Gualala Point Rergional Park is a favorite of mine. Rick and I enjoy taking our golden retriever, Huckleberry, there for a walk. Below is a photo I took from the bluff trail on Thursday. Beautiful, wouldn't you agree?

Thanks to Ben Angwin for allowing me to share his photo with you here.

Big Bucks are still being seen as the rut is winding down. The big boys move onto the coast in October looking for the most comely Doe. Drew Fagan recently photographed this five-point Black-tailed Deer. Isn't he magnificent?!
