The fences of the Rothschild Giraffes at the B. Bryan Preserve in Point Arena are tall, very tall. That didn't stop this Bobcat, as you will see from Judy Mello's photo.

That's one very determined Bobcat. The next day the Bobcat got inside the giraffe pasture and the youngest giraffe was seen chasing it. That Bobcat better watch out for the giraffe's hoofs.

Bobcats are suppose to be nocturnal but here on the Mendonoma Coast they are mostly seen in the daylight.

Judy Mello wrote, “This is a Hartmann’s Mountain Zebra. This species of zebra is on the endangered species list, with less than 6,000 left in the world. She/he already has its dewlap under its neck and the classic zipper pattern on its tail.” It looks like Mom is keeping a close eye on her little one.

Several more births are expected this summer at the preserve and several more animals will be joining the herd from San Diego Safari Park in June.

A visit to B. Bryan Preserve in Point Arena would be a unique thing to do. By reservation you can be there when the animals are being fed. They also have several guest cottages for rent. It's beautiful there - like you've entered another world. To learn more about the preserve, here's the link: http://www.bbryanpreserve.com/

The newest additions to the B. Bryan Preserve in Point Arena are male Rothschild Giraffes that came from the San Diego Zoo. Allen Francis recently photographed the G Boys. You will see in the second photo that carrots are a big hit!

Frank and Judy Mello had to build a special heated barn for these endangered Giraffes. We hope they will thrive in their new home in Point Arena.

The B. Bryan Preserve has welcomed their first giraffes - two young male Rothschild Giraffes. They come from the San Diego Zoo. Several more arrived last Thursday.

Here is one of the first arrivals. He weighs over 1300 pounds. So beautiful and so unique. There are less than seven hundred of these giraffes left in the wild.

Meet Rocket, the newest member of the herd of endangered Roan Antelopes that make their home in Point Arena at the wildlife preserve B. Bryan Preserve.

And here is Rhonda, Rocket's mom, nursing her newborn. You'll see one of her horns is askew. Judy Mello told me Rhonda had a fight with some other mean Roan girls and this is the result. Judy called it a "bad horn day."
