Michael Beattie is monitoring several sites where Peregrine Falcons have nested the past few years on the Mendocino coast. He caught this Peregrine preening recently.

A very pregnant Doe was photographed by Drew Fagan this week, a lady in waiting.
And, sure enough, a report of the first wobbly fawns has come in. No photos yet, but I'll share some with you. Time to slow down on the highway! Fawns follow their mothers across busy roads.

We are having a cool day, fog and then sunshine. Several mother/calf Gray Whales have passed our portion of the coast. Six pairs were seen yesterday off Bodega Bay. They are, of course, headed north.
Mary Sue Ittner was at Manchester State Beach with the Thursday Ramblers, a local hiking group. She found California Poppies blooming in profusion.
And Baby Blue Eyes.
And Cream Cups too.

We had a two-day heat wave but the coast's natural air conditioning, fog, has returned this morning.
Catherine Miller photographed Douglas Irises in bloom at Pelican Bluffs. They are so lovely to see with the Pacific Ocean as their backdrop.
Many other wildflowers are blooming now. I'll be sharing more photos of them in the days ahead.
