Warnings of high surf and sleeper waves went out today for the coast. Rick and I, along with our golden Sunny, headed to Hearn Gulch to see what the blowhole was doing. And, wow, was it ever active!
The beach was nearly covered with the white water. It was very exhilarating to be standing on the bluffs!
Rain is due in tonight, for which we are always grateful.
Steve Coffey-Smith saw this Bobcat nearly hidden in the grasses. Perhaps it was just resting, enjoying the autumn sun.
Bobcats are great rodent hunters, and grassy meadows like the one seen here usually have plenty of tasty gophers.

When storms are headed our way, the Pacific Ocean becomes more active and big waves crash against sandy beaches and rocky bluffs. Sometimes the ocean mist will travel all the way up the bluffs and over Highway One. Gary Levenson-Palmer photographed the mist at Manchester Beach.

Mark Ricci noticed the big hawk land on a wire.
Then the Red-tailed Hawk spotted something, something tasty to eat!
The hawk swooped down and nabbed this rodent.
It ate the rodent, tossed away the fur, and then returned to the wire to look for its next meal.

We've had a nice storm with rain, lightning, and cold air. Before the storm, these amazing clouds were moving from north to south over the Pacific Ocean. This one looks like an enormous doorway, a portal.
And then the sunset.
This afternoon is a 'wait five minutes' kind of day. Showers interspersed with brilliant sunshine make for a beautiful day here on the Mendonoma Coast.
