Mark Simkins watched as a Doe with her yearling were being stalked by a Bobcat. The Doe was protecting her young one and chased the Bobcat off.
Here the Bobcat looks back at the mother deer.
The cat with the tufted ears must be thinking, "She's way too mean. I better look for a fat gopher for my meal."

Craig Tooley was out photographing wildflowers in the rain when he found one of my favorite wildflowers, Fairy Bells, Disporum smithii. One wildflower book has them as Largeflower Fairybells. Either way, they are exquisite.
This member of the Lily family is found in shady woods. Their flowers shyly hide underneath their leaves, so it's wonderful to spot them.

“I was actually shooting several whales having what I thought at the time was a feeding frenzy, when the hawk landed right in front of me. Just dumb luck. I can’t tell you how many times I have tried to capture a shot of most likely this same bird only to end up with nothing, a blur, or a lousy picture that mainly features someone’s roof.”
Several years ago John caught one taking flight.

Beautiful dark clouds with rain showers in them mixed in with brilliant sunshine. That means we will have a rainbow day. I took these photos from our front deck in Anchor Bay.
The rain has moved out and there is sunny weather in our immediate future. This is a perfect time to visit the Mendonoma Coast!
