When the fog rolls in, as it often does in the summer, the Point Arena Lighthouse takes on a different, softer look. Dennis Latona recently photographed the tall lighthouse shrouded in fog.

This little green frog, recently transformed, was spotted by Debbie Trujillo.
You can see how very small it is perched on Debbie's hand. Here is a close-up of the frog in some greenery.
While these treefrogs are small, they have big voices, especially in mating season.

We wonder when this elk's hormones will kick in and he will leave the Mendocino coast in search of a mate. But for now, he seems content to hang out with a herd of domestic cows on a farm north of Point Arena. Ferne Fedeli recently photographed him with his growing antlers.
