This would be a great time to search out the various waterfalls on the Mendonoma Coast. Amy Ruegg recently photographed one of the six waterfalls to be found at Black Point Beach on The Sea Ranch.

One year Craig Tooley photographed the waterfalls at Black Point Beach under a stormy sky. I purchased this photo as a gift for my sister.

Craig's photo also appears in our book, Mendonoma Sightings Throughout the Year.

Joan Hoffman found this salamander, a Northwestern Salamander, in the bottom of a bucket.

Stacey Lore found a juvenile Pacific Giant Salamander. My, what big eyes you have!

Jennifer Massey has a pair of these beautiful hawks coming to a tree on Sea Ranch. She recently photographed one of them in the tree.

Craig Tooley also photographed a Red-shouldered Hawk, either exercising its wings or preparing for flight.

It's storming on the Mendonoma coast this afternoon!

With a big storm coming in for the first day of February, the last day of January cried out for a walk on the bluffs. That's exactly what Rick and I did, along with our golden retriever, Duffy. Watching from the bluffs, the waves crashing on the beach at Gualala Point Regional Park were amazing to behold.

The ocean will give you clues a storm is on the way. Here is a video of today's action.

Eric Zetterholm photographed the Bald Eagles recently. He found them "checking out" this tall, old-growth Redwood Tree east of Gualala Point Regional Park Campground.

There looks to be a nice flat area on the left for a nest...hint, hint! Eric says he will be watching in the days to come.

Eric also got this magnificent photo of the two, forming a heart. The larger female is on the right.

Shari GoForth-Eby photographed one of the Bald Eagles flying by so we can see the white tail feathers.

You can also see the bones of the eagle's legs. Nice!
