Lauren Hall recently explored the intertidal zone off Anchor Bay Beach at a low tide. She found healthy Ochre Stars.

Lisa Wieneke also explored that area and she too found Ochre Sea Stars.

It's so heartening to see they have recovered from the Sea Star wasting disease. Stars are an important part of the ecosystem of the intertidal zone!

Thanks to Lauren and Lisa for allowing me to share their photos with you here.

There will be fireworks in Point Arena tonight. So, of course today is foggy. It's foggy, breezy and barely 60 degrees. Hopefully for those attending the show, the fog will pull back later today.

Sunsets are beautiful everywhere, but I'm partial to those on the Mendonoma Coast. Adrian Adams recently photographed this vibrant sight.

Sometimes  you almost can't believe your eyes! Thanks to Adrian for allowing me to share his photo with you here.

It's warmer today with no fog this afternoon. The wind picked up with the disappearance of the fog!

Sarah Flaim is a talented photographer. She has previously let me share several of her photos, including ones of the Milky Way. But she trained her camera on something much smaller recently. She photographed an Anna's Hummingbird at the moment its tongue pierced a droplet of water. How amazing is this?

Thanks to Sarah for allowing me to share her spectacular photo with you here. You can see more of Sarah's photography at her Instagram page  - @redwoodsinger.

The fog is hovering over the Pacific Ocean keeping temperatures mild, but most coastal locations have sun this afternoon. It's a beautiful summer day on the Mendonoma Coast.

Peter Baye was exploring the Wheatfield Fork of the Gualala River when he came across a what he called "a massive aggregation of Western Toad tadpoles!"

That's a lot of tadpoles! Nice to see. Here is a photo of a newly hatched Western Toad at the Gualala River, taken a few years ago by Peggy Berryhill.

Amy Ruegg photographed a juvenile.

And here is one of my favorite all-time Sightings photos, taken by Holly McCarroll, of an adult Western Toad looking in the window at Starcross in Annapolis. Just what was this frog thinking? Too funny!

Thanks to Peter, Peggy, Amy and Holly for allowing me to share their photos with you here.

It's been quite foggy today, with some sun breaks this afternoon.

I love this photo Paul Brewer took at his Gualala home. The Fawn was standing facing the sunset when Paul got this wonderful photo.

Isn't it lovely?! Thanks to Paul for allowing me to share his photo with you here. To see much more of Paul's nature photography, here is his website: http://www.capturingnatureswonders.com/

Fog rolled in last night and is covering the immediate coast. It's sunny at Rick's and my place in Anchor Bay, 1/2 mile back from the Pacific Ocean. Micro climates!
