Rick and Teresa Denniston hiked the Salal Trail, one of the public access trails on The Sea Ranch. When they reached the beach, they found this big piece of driftwood perched up on a rock against the bluff.

Rick also photographed a group of Harbor Seals hauled out on the sandbar of the Gualala River last Saturday. He took these photos from his home overlooking the river.  In the first photo the seals are at the bottom right. The following photo is a closeup.

Drew Fagan noticed this Bobcat hunting, and he took four photos showing the hunt and the hunt's result - a Gopher, which seems to be Bobcats favorite meal on the coast.

Drew took one of my all-time favorite Bobcat photos. In fact he allowed me to share it in my book, Mendonoma Sightings Throughout the Year. Drew caught a Bobcat mid-leap, an amazing photo.

Amy Ruegg photographed this jaunty-looking orange Bat Star recently.

This member of the family Asterinidae comes in many different colors. Bat Stars have webbing between their arms, which resemble bat wings. They live in the intertidal zone and they help keep the ocean clean by eating algae and dead animals. Amy photographed this Star at low tide, the perfect time to go tide pooling.

After a storm we often have a rainbow day. Melissa Scheaffer captured a full rainbow over Irish Beach.

Melissa speculates that the pot of gold might very well be at her house on the right!

All these storms have brought big surf. Bill Oxford went out between storms to Black Point Beach on The Sea Ranch. He said the waves were massive.

We had a big storm today, which brought over two inches of rain. And it's still raining this afternoon. The weekend and the first of next week is predicted to be dry, so we will have a chance to dry out.
