Rozanne Rapozo photographed the evolving sky as a low-pressure system swept across the Mendonoma Coast. It brought thunder and lightning, and virga - rain that evaporates before hitting the ground. The colors in the sky were amazing.

The first photo is pre-sunset.

Then the sunset - those streaks are virga.

And finally post-sunset, which really shows off the virga.

What a spectacular show we had that evening!

Thanks to Rozanne for allowing me to share her photos with you here.

It's cooler today, sunny and quite breezy.

The remnants of a hurricane off Mexico brought some needed rain to our south, but on the Mendonoma Coast we just got a few sprinkles. We did however have an awesome sunset. Anne Mary Schaefer photographed the sunset reflected in storm clouds to the east near Manchester.

And Holly McCarroll took this photo from Highway One.

Just beautiful, a feast for the eyes! Thanks to Anne Mary and Holly for allowing me to share their photos with you here.

Friday the 13th is said to be an unlucky day. Well, I say phooey on that! Bettye Winters got a beautiful photograph of thunderclouds forming over Manchester Beach and the Point Arena Lighthouse. Look how the sun glints off of the newly restored white Lighthouse. Thanks to Bettye for allowing me to share her photo with you here.

Friday also brought a spectacular sunset and I was lucky enough to capture it with my camera from my deck in Anchor Bay.

As Bettye wrote me, "Love it here!"

Last night's sunset was epic. I call this kind of sunset a Biblical sunset. It evolved for nearly a half hour - just magnificent. Ron LeValley captured the sunset at its peak loveliness and has kindly allowed me to share it here. The light comes from the Point Cabrillo Lighthouse, which resides in the Point Cabrillo Light Station Historic State Park in Mendocino County .
