Once again the beauty of a sunset took our breath away. Christmas day's sunset was amazing.

The Pacific Ocean glowed a beautiful pink and then mauve as the sunset evolved.

A nice “Merry Christmas” greeting came in from Anchor Bay Campground residents, Jim Corbett and Sheila Shapiro. I titled Sheila’s photo “Nature’s Christmas tree,” as it is made of driftwood, abalone shells, beach glass and other shells.

Thanks to Sheila for allowing me to share her photo with you here.

We are having lovely weather here on the Mendonoma Coast. And there are lots of visitors here to enjoy the balmy days. Gray Whales, heading south, are being seen. The best place to watch their migration is from the bluffs of the Point Arena Lighthouse.

Once in a great while, a Northern Elephant Seal will decide to haul out at Anchor Bay Beach. Wendy Bailey nearly walked by without noticing him because you can see he blends so well with the sand and rocks. And it is definitely a "he" - the big proboscis proves it. Juveniles and females do not have this big nose.

This Elephant Seal looks very relaxed, doesn't he, just barely gazing at Wendy? He stayed for several days before heading to points unknown. Thanks to Wendy for allowing me to share her photo with you here.

To find Anchor Bay Beach, you enter through Anchor Bay Campground. There is a nominal entrance fee. To learn more about this beautiful, privately-owned campground, here's their website: http://www.abcamp.com/

Anchor Bay Beach is a wonderful place to watch the sun begin to set. David Wayne Floyd did just that recently and look at what he saw. Beautiful! Thanks to David for allowing me to share his photo with you here.

Anchor Bay Beach is accessed through the private Anchor Bay Campground. To learn more about the campground, here's their link: http://www.abcamp.com/. It is one of the jewels of the Mendocino Coast.
Gray Whales, two of them, were seen today heading south, according to Adrian Bennett. Tomorrow I will share two edible mushrooms that just made an appearance on the Mendonoma Coast!

On Thursday the Pacific Ocean was putting on a show. Just look at the photo David Wayne Floyd took at Anchor Bay Beach.
