Oddly enough, before the 2 1/2 inches of rain we had, these Shaggy Manes appeared in the parking area of Gualala Arts and Sus Susalla photographed them.

You can see another group emerging in the back...wow! These are edible mushrooms when young like these.

Thanks to Sus for allowing me to share his photo with you here. To learn more about our fabulous Arts Center, here is the link: http://gualalaarts.org/

Pamela Fitzgerald recently photographed a rare fog bow over one of the buildings at the Point Arena Lighthouse.

The Lighthouse bluffs and the Lighthouse tower are some of the best places on the Mendonoma Coast for whale watching and observing seabird migration. There are several rental units there. You can learn more at: http://www.pointarenalighthouse.com/

One of my favorite photos of the Lighthouse was taken at night by Sus Susalla. Here is the link: http://www.mendonomasightings.com/2012/08/21/nocturnal-view-of-the-point-arena-lighthouse-as-photographed-by-sus-susalla/

Sus Susalla is the Executive Director of the Gualala Arts Center. A few months ago the Art Center had a class called, "Introduction to Night Photography." Sus took the class and just look at the results.

What a spectacular photo! The Point Arena Lighthouse shines in the night sky. Thanks to Sus for allowing me to share his photo with you here.

Sus Susulla noticed a very strange bug on the screen door of his Gualala home. It turned out to be a California Walking Stick.

They are in the family Timenas. Not much is known of the unique insect but we do know they eat plants.

Cathleen Crosby also spotted one and her photo gives us a different perspective on this weird-looking insect. Isn't Mother Nature creative?

Sus Susalla and Liz Redfield photographed the eclipse as it was seen reflected off of several different surfaces at the Gualala Arts Center. This first photo is of a sculpture by Robert Holmes that resides in the gardens of the Art Center. The eclipse is reflected on the legs of the sculpture.

And below you will see the eclipse multiplied on the surface of one of the parking areas of GAC.

And below is when Sus held his camera up towards the sun, something he knows he shouldn't have done, but look at the beautiful photo he captured.

Thanks to Sus and Liz for allowing me to share their unique eclipse photos with you here. To learn more about the Gualala Arts Center, the heart of our town, here's the link: http://gualalaarts.org/
