Ruth Downes noticed a Chestnut-backed Chickadee on her hummingbird feeder, drinking sugar water.

And Adrian Bennett found a tiny Sierran Treefrog sitting on her nectar feeder. We think the frog may have been attracted to the moisture or perhaps small insects caught in the sugar water on the lid.

Then Thane Frivold's dog, Moon, alerted him to a masked bandit at his feeder one night. Here is the video of the Raccoon obviously relished the sweet treat.

Raccoon raiding a hummingbird feeder by Thane Frivold

Who knew hummingbird feeders were popular with such diverse animals! Thanks to Ruth and Adrian for allowing me to share their photos, and to Thane for allowing me to share his video, with you here.

Today, Wednesday, is one of the most beautiful days of the year. It really feels like Autumn today, with gentle breezes, blue skies and mild temps.

These treefrogs are quite small but the bright green color should give this one away. The Sierran Treefrog enjoys hiding under a decorative mushroom in Carolyn Andre's flowerpot.

Charles Mills went to clean out his hot tub and found one of these frogs inside. But this Sierran Treefrog had changed colors to match the color of the hot tub cover.

This beige-for-now treefrog had to find a new home! I imagine he/she will begin transforming into its green color.

Thanks to Carolyn and Charles for allowing me to share their photos with you here.

Today, Tuesday, there is thick fog over the Pacific Ocean. But if you get away from the immediate coast, it's toasty warm and the wind picked up this afternoon.

Maggie Rudy found this nearly white Sierran Treefrog. Since this little frog does have the black eye stripe, it is not leucistic. But even the experts don't know what to call this unusually pale frog!

Bill Bennett photographed a Sierran Treefrog in a more normal-colored emerald green.

This frog can change color from green to a rusty red. Here are two frogs that Carolyn Andre photographed hiding in her barbecue. The black eye stripe stays the same though.

Thanks to Maggie, Bill and Carolyn for allowing me to share their photos with you here.

We received 1.2 inches of rain yesterday and overnight. More rain today. We hit 30 inches season to date, which is still well below average. We'll take every drop!

Spring doesn't know...

Mary Keller noticed this stand-off between a Sierran Treefrog and an Alligator Lizard, both seemingly enjoying the sun.

Gary Nafis wrote that the little green frog must have been too big a meal for the lizard. So, maybe we should call this a peace on earth moment!

Thanks to Mary for allowing me to share her photo with you here.

No power shutoff today, for which I am thankful. Slightly breezy, cool and sunny today.

Remi Alexander noticed this little green Sierran Treefrog nestled in a succulent.

These treefrogs eat spiders, flies, ants, and other insects. This little green frog looks like he/she is waiting for something tasty to appear.

Thanks to Remi for allowing me to share her photo with you here.

Heavy fog this morning has given way to bright sunshine this afternoon.
