Sara Bogard noticed this Great Blue Heron posing at the Point Arena Lighthouse. They are such beautiful birds!

One of my all-time favorite photos of a Great Blue Heron was taken by Paul Brewer. Paul photographed the heron as he/she was taking flight.

Another favorite photo is by Gordon Stitt - a Great Blue Heron and the Point Arena Lighthouse, along with crashing waves.

Thanks to Sara, Paul and Gordon for allowing me to share their photos with you here.

The Pacific Ocean has been crashing today, perhaps telling us of changes ahead. For now, the weather has been spectacular.

Paul Kozal was out late at night making magic with his photography. You can see a meteor on the right, the iconic Lighthouse we all love, and the Milky Way splashed across the night sky. So lovely.

Thanks to Paul for allowing me to share his photo with you here. To see much more of Paul's photography, here is his website: http://www.paulkozal.com/

It's pretty darn warm at our place today. We melt when the temps get near 90 degrees. It was that hot yesterday but today has a cooling breeze. Come on, breeze! oh, we had quite a lightning show early this morning. I hope to show you some photos of that event soon.

Comet NEOWISE can be seen in the northwestern sky after sunset now. It is under the Big Dipper and rising. Paul Kozal photographed this beautiful sight - the comet and the Point Arena Lighthouse  below. With the dramatic bluffs, rocks and the Pacific Ocean, it doesn't get much better than this!

Or visit his gallery at the Cypress Center in Gualala!

A very foggy day today but I could see blue sky up on the ridge. But it's mild with no wind and I can hear the Sea Lions barking on Fish Rocks as I type this. Nice!

Richard Custer has been watching a Raven nest near the Point Arena Lighthouse. Two chicks hatched, and the parents are busy feeding them. Look how hungry these chicks are, and notice the wing feathers coming in.

Here's a beautiful photo of one of the Common Ravens at the Lighthouse, taken by Michael Deligio a few years ago. It kind of looks like a painting!

Thanks to Richard and Michael for allowing me to share their photos with you here.

Wet fog this morning has led to brilliant sunshine this afternoon.

The Point Arena Lighthouse is closed now but Executive Director, Mark Hancock, goes to check on things. He took this photo a few days ago of the multitude of wildflowers appearing now.

I see California Poppies, Blue-eyed Grass, Douglas Iris, Sea Thrift and more. Mark says it is sad that others can't see this beautiful sight, but Mark's photo will have to suffice this year.

Thanks to Mark for allowing me to share his photo with you here. When things open up again, this beautiful lighthouse would be a great place to visit. They have accommodations too. Here's their website: https://www.pointarenalighthouse.com/

We are having a beautiful, sunny day to shelter in place today. Rain coming in tomorrow. Bring it, Mother Nature!

Spring doesn't know...
