The answer is, of course, with a drone. Mike Nelson got these fascinating photo of a recent sunset above the thick fog layer. We underneath the fog did not get to see this beautiful sunset...until Mike's photos, that is!

Thanks to Mike for allowing me to share his beautiful photos with you here.

Mike Nelson is a talented drone pilot. He photographed the raging, muddy Gualala River after the recent big storm.

The Gualala River after the river of rain, medium version by Mike Nelson

Here is a link to Friends of Gualala River, where a longer version is shared. Mike photographed some of the beautiful waves off of the river. I think you will really enjoy watching it.

Here is a photo of the flooded Gualala River that I took two years ago to give you an idea what the river can look like after a great deal of rain. I photographed the river from Gualala Point Regional Park on a very stormy day.

Thanks to Mike for allowing me to share his video with you here, and for allowing FoGR to share his longer version. Mike is the owner of MD Electric and Solar here in Gualala, https://www.mdelectricsolar.com/

We are waiting for the next couple of storms. One is to arrive tonight, and another one tomorrow, Sunday, and into Monday.

Rob and Shannon Sunderland were celebrating their wedding anniversary last month. They visited the Point Arena Lighthouse and climbed the tower to the top. Here's the photo Rob took.

You will have to click on the photo to see it properly. Here is one of my favorite photos of the lighthouse tower taken at dusk by Mike Nelson.

Thanks to Rob and Mike for allowing me to share their photos with you here.

Mike Nelson piloted his drone and photographed the Gualala River recently. You can the big sandbar that finally was breached with the rains. The buildings are the small town of Gualala. The river opened a little differently this year, angling to the south as it flows into the Pacific Ocean.

It's very interesting to see the Gualala River mouth from the vantage point of a bird...or in this case, a drone!

More rain today and the ocean is roaring!

Mike Nelson visited one of his favorite beaches, Cooks Beach, recently. He was surprised to find this beautiful stone sculpture balanced on a log.

With the clouds, the ocean and the setting sun, don't you wish you were at Cooks Beach too? Here's a closeup of the stacked stones.

Cooks Beach is a Public Access Project of the Redwood Coast Land Conservancy. To learn more about this special place, here is their website:  http://rclc.org/

We have sunny, breezy weather today. It feels like spring!
