Bobcats are year round residents of the Mendonoma Coast. Several weeks ago, Gail Jackson spotted this healthy-looking Bobcat at Manchester State Park.

The markings on a Bobcat's coat is unique to itself, similar to our fingerprints!

Thanks to Gail for allowing me to share her photo with you here.

The fog is gone and- yes! - the Pacific Ocean is still there. We hadn't seen it for a while with the heavy fog. There are high clouds and the temps are nice, in the high 60s. It's a beautiful day here today.

Due to the virus, every beach access is currently closed. I thought you might enjoy discovering Manchester State Park, which has a fabulous beach, meadows, and much more. Anne Mary Schaefer will show you some of the beauty through the lens of her camera.

Rick and I have been to this special place and found it nearly to ourselves. When this virus threat is over, you might plan at trip to visit Manchester State Park. To learn more about it, here is the link: https://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=437

Anne Mary is a very talented pet photographer, though she photographs special occasions too. She has photographed Rick and me with our first two rescue Golden Retrievers, Sunny and Duffy. Here is Sunny smiling  for Anne Mary, and below with Rick and me.

Temps warmed up some today and a fog bank appeared on the ocean. The storms have left for now. The first Harbor Seal pups were born on Monday, which always makes me happy.

Spring doesn't know...

Doug Forsell noticed a huge change at Brush Creek, at Manchester State Park on Jan. 31. Doug wrote, “Brush Creek has moved north past the beach entrance at Kinney Road, washing away 20 to 30 feet of sand that was there three weeks ago. Tell people not to run down the entrance or let their children do so.” Here's what Brush Creek looks like now. Note the horizontal snag sticking out of the bluff face.

Here's what it looked like at the beginning of January. You can see the horizontal snag. That is a tremendous amount of sand that is now gone.

Brush Creek is found at Manchester State Beach, the Kinney Road entrance. You can learn much more about this fabulous beach at this link: https://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=437

We are having unbelievable weather for the middle of winter - very little breeze, warm temps. Daffodils are beginning to bloom, as they are wont to do when we have a stretch of warm weather. We do hope the rains will return but there is no rain in the forecast until late next week. Come to the coast!

The Thursday Ramblers were out exploring at Manchester State Beach several weeks ago. They walked along the long-closed Alder Creek Road. It has gotten very overgrown, but there were lots of native wildflowers this summer. Mary Sue Ittner sent in these photos.

Looks like they had a beautiful day for their ramble. Here is a Seep-spring Monkey Flower, Mimulus guttatus.

And Seaside Daisy, Erigeron glaucus.

Thanks to Mary Sue for allowing me to share her photos with you here.

We have had a lot of fog on the coast this past week. It does clear in the afternoon, but soon returns. This is why some people call August by the name "Fogust."

The light can be magical here on the coast. Anne Mary Schaefer captured this beautiful moment in time at Manchester State Park with wildflowers and grasses kissed by the sun.

Anne Mary's photo looks like a painting, don't you think?
