Jeff Goll was at Navarro Beach yesterday, April 5th. There was a high surf advisory and the conditions didn't disappoint. You can almost hear the action by looking at Jeff's photos.

Jeff told me the Navarro River is currently blocked from flowing into the ocean by the big sandbar. So this River Otter had to hotfoot it over the sandbar to reach the ocean.

North American River Otters can navigate on land, in rivers and in oceans. Once a River Otter was seen crossing Highway One in Gualala! They are great climbers and can easily climb up a bluff face. They cannot abide pollution so their presence is a good sign for the health of the Mendonoma Coast's rivers and creeks.

The wind has disappeared and the ocean is calm today. Warm weather is predicted for the next few days. Head for the coast! Bonus sighting: the first mother/calf Gray Whale pair was seen a few days ago off the Point Arena Lighthouse Peninsula by Scott and Tree Mercer.

Bob Rutemoeller photographed some of the huge surf off the Point Arena-Stornetta Lands on December 26th. I was amazed to see the arches so inundated with water and foam.

Here is what they usually look like. This photo was taken by Laura Cover in a calmer moment.

Bob also photographed several big waves coming in. The Pacific Ocean was LOUD that day!

Thanks to Bob and Laura for allowing me to share their photos with you here.

It's sunny today, and it looks like there are no clouds on the horizon. If so, there may be a green flash at sunset today!

Big, fat swells are rolling in today in advance of several storms. Bob Rutemoeller recently photographed some big surf off the Point Arena-Stornetta Lands.

You can see the beautiful Point Arena Lighthouse in the background. The Lands, and the Lighthouse, are such a gift for locals and visitors alike.

A wild and wet storm arrived yesterday [we got over two inches of rain], and the unsettled weather behind it has brought downpours, a little hail, mixed with brilliant sunshine today. A wait-five-minutes kind of day!

Craig Tooley photographed a couple of rainbows, one showing the big surf we are having.

After today's showers, the weather is suppose to be sunny and warmer through the weekend. Time for a trip to the Mendonoma coast? It should be beautiful.

Oh, we had a wild storm last week on Thursday. It was windy and pouring rain. In advance of the storm, the surf was huge. Pam Ryan photographed some of it.

I live a half mile away from the Pacific Ocean, but I could still hear - and feel - the booming waves. Today is it breezy and clear as can be.

Thanks to Pam for allowing me to share her photos with you here.
