Quinliven Creek looks beautiful with all the rain!

We are fortunate to have a lovely, seasonal creek on our property, Quinliven Creek. Yesterday, Sunday, it was running fast and muddy after the heavy rain. We only went down and gazed at it - no crossing it when it was doing its best imitation of a mighty river. This morning we walked alongside it and I took a few videos. I have shared one below - you just need to click on the highlighted text to watch it.

Highway One is still flooded and closed by the Garcia River, at least as of 1 pm this afternoon. If you are on Facebook, go to the Point Arena Update page, as locals post their observations on whether the highway is open or not. https://www.facebook.com/groups/642728659107251/?ref=bookmarks Cal Trans has promised a live camera, which is to be installed next month. Now we  need plans for a permanent fix!

UPDATE: The Highway opened late this afternoon! But more rain could change things again.

UPDATE Wednesday Jan. 10, 8:30 am...Highway One is closed above Point Arena with three to four feet of water. High tide, a King Tide, occurs at 9:16 this morning.

More rain today and tomorrow. Batten down the hatches!
